Dormakaba PHA203 2 Point Panic Bolt (FIRE RATED)

The dormakaba (DORMA) PHA 203 is a surface-mounted, fire-rated modular panic exit bolt designed to provide safe, single-motion egress for emergency exit doors while maintaining structural integrity during fire events.

Overview & Core Function

Engineered as part of the PHA 2000 series, the PHA 203 utilizes a two-point vertical locking configuration (top and bottom bolts) actuated by a full-width push bar. When pressure is applied anywhere along the bar, both vertical latch bolts retract simultaneously to allow rapid, unobstructed escape. When the door closes, the bolts automatically re-engage into the top frame strike and floor keeper to secure the opening.

  • Locking Configuration: 2-point vertical locking (top pullman latch and bottom shoot bolt/latch).

  • Fire Rating: Certified for use on fire and smoke check doors (tested to European standards including EN 1125 for panic hardware and EN 1634 for fire resistance).

  • Door Compatibility: Suitable for single-leaf doors or the passive leaf of double rebate doors made of timber, steel, or aluminum.

  • Handing: Fully non-handed (reversible for left- or right-swinging doors).

  • Dogging/Hold-Open: Fire-rated variants are configured to ensure full latching during an alarm; dogging functions are typically omitted or restricted to meet fire safety codes.

  • External Access: Compatible with DORMA external hardware trims (such as key-locking lever handles or knobs) for outside entry without compromising exit compliance.
